Poco F6 Price in India:The Poco F6 5G is priced starting at Rs. 29,999 for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The versions with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM and 512GB storage are priced at Rs. 31,999 and Rs. 33,999, respectively.
The POCO F6, the successor to the remarkable F5, has a lot to live up to. The POCO F5 set a high benchmark, and the F6 aims to exceed it with the introduction of the new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, based on Qualcomm’s flagship chipset architecture. Additionally, the POCO F6 boasts the fastest charging solution and the highest display peak brightness ever seen in an F-series smartphone. How do these enhancements translate into real-world performance? And can they give the F-series an edge over competitors like the iQOO Neo 9 Pro and Realme GT 6T? Find out in this comprehensive POCO F6 review. Keep reading.
The POCO F6 comes in two RAM and storage configurations: 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB. While the storage cannot be expanded, it uses the fast UFS 4.0 standard for swift data transfer speeds. The RAM is the standard LPDDR5X type.
In terms of software, the POCO F6 runs HyperOS on top of Android 14 right out of the box. It is promised three years of major software updates and four years of security updates. The current software experience is similar to that of the POCO X6 Pro. At present, there are no exclusive features on the POCO F6, though support for AI air gestures is expected in a future OTA update. This feature will allow users to navigate through compatible apps using hand gestures detected by the front camera, akin to what has been seen on some Realme smartphones.
The software is intuitive and user-friendly, though it comes with several pre-installed third-party apps. Specifically, there are 16 such apps, the most for any smartphone in this segment. However, many of these apps are quite popular and useful.
Performance and software:
Performance has always been the hallmark of the F-series smartphones, and the POCO F6 continues this tradition. It is the first smartphone in India to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, designed to enhance on-device AI accessibility for users. This chipset brings the most coveted features from the flagship Snapdragon 8 series, including on-device generative AI, an always-sensing ISP, hyper-realistic mobile gaming, improved connectivity, and lossless high-definition sound.
That said, the POCO F6 doesn’t seem to offer any specific AI features, focusing instead on delivering top-notch performance. It scores over 1,500,000 on AnTuTu, which, although slightly lower than the iQOO Neo 9 Pro equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, still places it at the forefront of its segment. Additionally, the F6 achieves impressive results on Geekbench, with scores of 1,930 in the single-core test and 5,017 in the multi-core test. However, it’s important to note that the handset experiences significant throttling during the Burnout CPU throttle test, operating at only 56 percent of its peak performance under intense load.
Despite this, throttling wasn’t noticeable during regular use. The POCO F6 managed heavy multitasking and graphically demanding games like BGMI, Call of Duty, and Real Racing 3 with ease. The phone features proprietary Iceloop cooling technology and LiquidCool Technology 4.0, enhancing thermal efficiency during gaming and other demanding tasks. After playing BGMI, Call of Duty, and Real Racing 3 for 30 minutes each at moderate settings, the phone heated up by about 15 degrees. Nevertheless, the gaming experience remained smooth and enjoyable, with no stutter or frame drops. Additionally, the phone includes Wild Boost Optimisation 3.0 to ensure smooth gameplay.
Camera:
The POCO F6’s camera setup features a 50MP OIS Sony IMX882 primary sensor and an 8MP ultrawide lens. The ultrawide lens offers a 119-degree field of view, though its image quality falls short of the main sensor’s. Edge distortion and lackluster details are noticeable, but the color calibration is consistent with the primary camera. The handset tends to favor cooler tones, giving the images a more contrasty appearance.
For selfies and video calls, the POCO F6 features a 20MP front camera that excels at capturing images with nearly accurate skin tones in daylight. However, facial details can be underwhelming due to noticeable smoothening. The portrait mode offers good edge detection, but the bokeh effect can appear slightly unnatural. Indoors or in low light, image quality declines, similar to most smartphones, with reduced details and increased noise. While night mode helps reduce noise, it also compromises on detail.
