Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra mobile was launched on 17th January 2024. The phone comes with a 120 Hz refresh rate 6.80-inch touchscreen display (QHD+). The display sports Gorilla Glass for protection. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
You look at the Galaxy S24 and S24+ and can’t help but wonder if they really are the new models, or Samsung just went and reissued the old ones. The Ultra, on the other hand, is a different beast. The Galaxy S24 Ultra does make some significant strides towards improving on what was already the ultimate smartphone package.
Some changes are immediately apparent, beginning with a more blocky design featuring a fully flat face and a display glass that reflects less light. Though not immediately noticeable, this glass is expected to be more durable, and over time, the switch to titanium for the exposed frame may prove to be appreciated.
A less conspicuous but potentially significant development is the introduction of the new 5x zoom telephoto lens, which could bolster the Galaxy Ultra’s status as a leading cameraphone. While undoubtedly superior at 5x magnification compared to its predecessor, the question remains: can it deliver equally impressive results at 10x?
In a departure from the norm, the Ultra model will not be subject to the chipset divide seen in lesser models, as all top-tier Galaxies will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 – with no Exynos variants in sight. Furthermore, the S24 Ultra is set to incorporate the full suite of AI capabilities developed by Samsung and Google, a showcase of innovation unveiled during Unpacked 2024.
Unchanged is the battery capacity on this year’s model, and so too is the maximum charging rating, for better or for worse. No change can be a good thing too, and the S Pen remains another differentiator that elevates the Galaxy Ultra above all others when it comes to productivity and just general usefulness (it’s the best camera remote is what it is).
You can have another look at the key specs below, before we proceed to get our hands on the Ultra, at long last.
