The OnePlus One made its debut in 2014, and in the blink of an eye, a decade has passed, bringing us to the unveiling of the OnePlus 12. As we commemorate this special anniversary edition, it has undergone our thorough testing, and we’re ready to share all the intricate details with you.
The promotional materials for the OnePlus 12 emphasize the significance of accumulated experience, highlighting a noteworthy evolution in the brand’s philosophy and emphasis over the past decade. The once ‘startup’ of 2014, characterized by guerrilla marketing and competitive pricing for premium hardware, has matured into a prominent player in the flagship domain. As the years unfolded, OnePlus expanded its product range to encompass various segments. However, this expansion led to a dilution of the brand’s distinctive identity, ultimately transforming it into another branch of its parent company, currently identified as Oppo.
However, let’s shift our focus from philosophical musings and concentrate entirely on the OnePlus 12 as we progress. And rightfully so, given its impressive features.
As a comprehensive high-end package, the OnePlus 12 kicks off with a stellar display that excels in resolution, brightness, adaptive high refresh rate, and Dolby Vision support. The inclusion of the latest top-tier Snapdragon processor is no surprise, and the OnePlus benefits from being among the first to hit the market with this advanced chipset. While the extravagant 24GB/1TB top-spec version may not be globally available, we’ll manage quite well with a more modest half-terabyte option.
Fortunately, the camera setup is not region-specific, presenting a compelling configuration. Although lacking a one-inch sensor, a high-end Sony imager takes the lead in a proficient triple-camera arrangement. On one end of the zoom spectrum, there’s a reasonably large-sensor ultrawide with autofocus, while a 3x telephoto lens is expected to deliver impressive 6x shots, based on our previous experience with similar technology (Oppo Find N3/OnePlus Open).
A notable enhancement this year is the expanded battery capacity, now at 5,400mAh – a trend observed across the Oppo/OnePlus/Realme portfolio. Complementing this is the inclusion of a 100W charger, promising swift top-ups for the OnePlus 12.

Some other bits in the specsheet that stick out include the IP65 rating – it’s not quite the IP68 that’s quietly become the flagship standard. On the other hand, the 12 features an infrared emitter – that’s sort of the first number-only OnePlus to have it – maybe it makes up for the other thing. Stereo speakers, optical fingerprint reader, alert slider – some things are just a predictable check mark.
