he latest addition to the HMD lineup is here with the Nokia G42 – a midrange offering with a focus on repairability. HMD is partnering with iFixit to bring repair guides and OEM parts including displays, batteries and charging ports for the G42 for five years going forward. This is also HMD’s first user-repairable 5G phone. The back of the G42 is made from recycled plastic and packs a 50MP main camera (f/1.8) alongside a 2MP macro cam and a 2MP depth module.
Up front, G42 brings a 6.56-inch IPS LCD with HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The display features a waterdrop notch for the 8MP front-facing camera and is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.
There’s a Snapdragon 480+ chipset at the helm alongside 4/6GB RAM and 128GB storage which is further expandable via the microSD card slot. G42 boots Android 13 and HMD is promising two years of OS updates and three years of monthly security patches.
The phone packs a 5,000 mAh battery with 20W fast charging which HMD believes will last you three days with average use. The battery is rated to retain 80% of its original capacity after 800 charging cycles. Other notable features include an IP52 certification, a headphone jack and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
