The next generation of the foldable Razr is here, offering several small but significant improvements over the Razr 40 series. Today, we are diving into the most premium model, the Razr 50 Ultra. This device will make history as the first truly water-resistant Razr and the first to feature a telephoto camera.
In terms of looks, the new Razr 50 Ultra isn’t a drastic departure from the Razr 40 Ultra. It retains the compact foldable design with an aluminum frame, glass and leather exterior, and a stainless-steel hinge. This year, the Ultra model is IPX8-rated for proper water resistance.
The external screen has grown, now featuring a 4-inch square LTPO OLED display with smaller bezels and three punch-holes for the two cameras and the flash. It boasts a resolution of 1272 x 1080 pixels (421 ppi) and supports a 165Hz refresh rate, 1 billion colors, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision.
The foldable 6.9-inch LTPO OLED display matches this quality, supporting a dynamic 165Hz refresh rate, 1 billion colors, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision, with a resolution of 2640 x 1080 pixels (413 ppi).
The Razr 50 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, an upgrade over the 8+ Gen 1, and features faster UFS 4.0 storage. The dual-camera setup on the back remains, but now includes a 50MP OIS primary camera and a 50MP 2x OIS telephoto camera with up to 4x lossless zoom. The 32MP selfie camera is identical to the one on the Razr 40 Ultra.
Lastly, the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra comes with a 4,000mAh battery supporting 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. It runs on vanilla Android 14 with a few proprietary Moto enhancements, including extensive use of the external screen.

It seems that Motorola has addressed the issues we had with the Razr 40 Ultra, which is an excellent development! Now, we have proper water protection, an improved cover screen, better cameras, and faster charging. The only downside is the removal of the ultrawide camera, which some users will undoubtedly miss.
