Reports suggest that the anticipated iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are poised to make their entrance in the latter half of 2024, boasting a few design refinements. These modifications, as per earlier leaks, hint at a departure from the squared camera layout seen in the iPhone 15 series and its predecessors, in favor of a more rounded, pill-shaped arrangement.
A leaked image showcasing cases purportedly designed for the iPhone 16 models provides insight into what users might expect from these successors. Shared by insider Sonny Dickson via X (previously known as Twitter), the image depicts two cases, one slightly larger than the other. It’s speculated that the larger case is intended for the iPhone 16 Plus, while the smaller one corresponds to the standard model. Both cases feature a vertical camera bump on the rear, accompanied by a plastic cutout positioned adjacent to the camera island, presumably for the LED flash.
While the revised camera configuration could signal a new design direction speculated upon for several months, MacRumors suggests that the forthcoming smartphones might also introduce a dual rear camera setup arranged vertically. This alignment is purportedly intended to facilitate spatial recording, a feature reportedly absent in the iPhone 15 due to its diagonal camera layout.
Furthermore, it’s anticipated that Apple’s Action button, initially introduced in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, will be integrated into all four models of the iPhone 16 series this year. Notably, leaked cases depict the presence of the Action button on the standard iPhone 16 models, alongside a cutout presumably reserved for the rumored ‘Capture’ button slated for release later in the year.
