The new iPad Pro models mark a significant upgrade for the lineup. They now feature 120Hz OLED screens, the latest Apple M4 chip, and support for the new Pencil Pro. Additionally, for the first time, there’s an option for Nano-Texture Glass, a special display coating that significantly reduces glare and maintains color consistency even in challenging lighting conditions.
Aside from that, the fifth-generation iPad Pro comes in the usual 11″ and 13″ versions. You can choose between Wi-Fi and Cellular (5G) models and four storage tiers.
One of the most significant changes in the new iPad Pro models is the Ultra Retina Tandem OLED panel, a substantial upgrade from the mini-LED display on the iPad Pro (2022). The screen supports ProMotion (dynamic 120Hz refresh rate), HDR10, Dolby Vision, a wide color gamut, and up to 1,600 nits of peak HDR brightness.
Additionally, there’s still no cutout for the FaceID hardware on the iPad screens, which is a welcome feature.
The second major update is the Apple M4 chip. While the Apple M2 was already impressive, the M4 promises even better performance and battery life. We’ll be testing this later.
The iPad Pro is available with either 8GB or 16GB of RAM, depending on the storage options (256GB/512GB or 1TB/2TB). It features a 12MP rear camera with a LiDAR system and a 12MP ultrawide front camera with a FaceID kit.
The iPad Pro features a total of four speakers and includes a USB-C 4 port (Thunderbolt 3) with support for DisplayPort. It also has a magnetic connector for the optional Apple Pencil.
The tablet runs on iPadOS 17.5.
