The OnePlus Nord 2 5G is an Android-based smartphone manufactured by OnePlus, unveiled on 22 July 2021.
The OnePlus Nord 2, following in the footsteps of the OnePlus 9 series, features a substantial 4,500mAh battery, which represents a nearly 10% increase in capacity compared to the original Nord. This larger battery supports enhanced usage times, contributing to a better overall battery life, albeit with room for improvement. Additionally, the Nord 2 comes equipped with a 65W in-box charger (Type-A to Type-C), enabling fast charging and minimizing downtime. This advancement ensures that users can quickly recharge their devices, maintaining the convenience and efficiency expected from OnePlus smartphones.
The MediaTek 1200 AI chipset in the OnePlus Nord 2 isn’t particularly power-hungry based on my experience with the phone, though it’s not the most power-efficient chipset I’ve used. In my tests, it offers slightly better battery life than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, though it’s not exceptional. Screen-on-time has varied significantly, ranging from four hours with heavy usage to up to six hours. The six-hour mark is notably higher than what I’ve achieved on a Snapdragon 865-powered device, such as the OnePlus 8T.
The OnePlus Nord 2 5G features a 6.43-inch Fluid AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. Its 20:9 aspect ratio panel, with the typical rounded corners, boasts a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels (409 ppi). The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, ensuring durability. In addition to these specifications, the display excels in all other important aspects, providing a high-quality visual experience.
MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI
Nord 2 is powered by MediaTek’s fastest and most powerful chip ever, the MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI.
